Lauren Spears, "Colorado Dog Lady," is a Lubbock, Texas native and owner of The Sporty Dog™ originally established in 2008-2024 in Austin, Texas. Lauren has over 40 years of expertise caring for animals, while bringing her experiences to create a positive bond with each pet according to their specific needs. 

Lauren graduated from Texas Tech University, is a former Elementary Special Education Teacher and started working Professionally in the Pet Care Industry in June 2006, training under Top Five Star Professional Pet Companies in Texas.

Lauren specializes in Positive Reinforcement by using a stress-free, gentle and holistic approach to help calm and relax each pet in her care.  Pets are just like children and each have their own personalities and deserve an individualized approach to their daily care and well-being.

 Lauren is also an advocate for Forgotten Friends, a Mixed Breed Rescue in Austin, where she rescued two dogs of her own (2016-2017) Emmitt, "EM" a poodle mix and Birdie Bleu,"Bird" a yorkie.

Lauren is ecstatic to relocate and expand The Sporty Dog's high quality Dog walking + Pet Sitting Services and be near the glorious, majestic, mesmerizing mountains in Colorado. In her free time she enjoys being in nature, live music, hiking, swimming, gardening, avid antique and vintage collecting, cooking and exploring gluten free cuisine, and incorporating a holistic, chemical, and toxin free lifestyle for herself and the pets in her care.
